What does DiskCopilot do?
It scans a drive or folder and shows where your storage is being used.
Can I scan my whole Mac disk?
Yes. Click the system drive card. For complete results on macOS, enable Full Disk Access first.
Can I scan just one folder?
Yes. Use Scan Folder and pick any directory.
What is the difference between jwalk and bulk-attrs?
jwalk is the cross-platform scanner. bulk-attrs is macOS-optimized and usually faster.
How do I find the biggest files quickly?
Switch to the Large Files view after a scan.
Can I hide tiny files from results?
Yes. Set a Minimum Size Filter in Settings.
Can I exclude folders from scans?
Yes. Add custom exclusions in Settings. System exclusions are applied automatically.
Does DiskCopilot remember previous scans?
Yes. It keeps scan history and can reuse cached results for faster reopening.
Can I stop a scan in progress?
Yes. Use Cancel in the scanning overlay.
Can I delete files from inside the app?
Yes. Selected items can be moved to Trash from the inspector actions.
Is my data uploaded to a server?
Scanning runs locally on your machine. No cloud upload is required for core scan features.
What are the AI assistant buttons for?
They open helper prompts in services like Claude, ChatGPT, and Perplexity for selected files/folders.
Can I control which AI buttons appear?
Yes. Enable or disable AI engines in Settings.
Why do I see permission prompts on macOS?
Protected folders require macOS privacy permission. Grant Full Disk Access for smoother full-disk scans.
Why are some files missing from results?
They may be excluded by rules, filtered out by size threshold, or blocked by OS permissions.
